milkblack
A debut poetry collection by Tasha Monroe — bold, intimate, and unafraid to tell the truth of a woman's life.

Words from the Author
"I wrote milkblack across nearly two decades of my life.
Some of versions of these poems were written when I was younger, trying to understand pain, love, survival, and what it meant to stay visible in a world that rewards silence. Others came later—after loss, illness, anger, tenderness, and the slow realization that I had been carrying more than my limited life experience had the wisdom to hold.
Writing this collection changed me. It taught me how to stay with myself instead of explaining myself. How to tell the truth without softening it. How to come back after being worn down.
I’m sharing milkblack because it holds what I’ve lived, not what I wanted to perform. If you’ve ever had to rebuild yourself quietly, this might feel familiar."
