The Future Is Calling, and It Sounds Like Music
Austin Opera | Inspire 2030
In a world where attention spans are fleeting and cultural touchstones often feel commodified, Austin Opera's Inspire 2030 initiative emerges as a beacon of hope and transformation.
This ambitious campaign is not merely about sustaining an art form; it's about reimagining opera as a dynamic, inclusive, and community-driven experience that resonates with the diverse tapestry of Austin.
And for me? It’s personal. I was born and raised in Austin. I’ve watched this city stretch and shimmer, lose its way and find it again. I’ve seen how easy it is to lose things that matter—and how powerful it is when something chooses to stay rooted.
Opera stayed.
🎭 Embracing a New Era of Opera
Austin Opera's Inspire 2030 is a forward-thinking plan that seeks to:
-
Foster Artistic Excellence by bringing together local and national artists to create meaningful operatic performances.
-
Enhance Community Engagement through robust educational programs and partnerships with schools and community groups.
-
Innovate the Operatic Medium by developing new strategies that increase the scope and impact of opera in Austin and beyond.
Central to this vision is the creation of the Sarah and Ernest Butler Performance Center, a state-of-the-art facility set to open in spring 2026. This new cultural hub will feature a 180-seat theater, rehearsal rooms, teaching studios, and event spaces, providing a year-round venue for diverse artistic expressions and community gatherings.
🎶 A Season to Celebrate
The 2025-2026 season marks Austin Opera's 40th anniversary, a testament to its enduring presence in the city's cultural landscape. The season opens with "Celebrate Opera! A Spectacular Birthday Concert," featuring iconic arias and ensembles from masterpieces like Verdi's Aida and Puccini's Turandot. The lineup continues with a new production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel, created in partnership with Boston Lyric Opera, and concludes with Puccini’s beloved La Bohème.
🎶 Fashion Meets Philanthropy
In a harmonious blend of style and support, Simply Edyn & Co. presents the Opera Nights Collection, a collection inspired by the elegance and drama of opera. In honor of my 42nd trip around the sun, 42% of all profits from this collection will be donated to Austin Opera—directly supporting the Inspire 2030 initiative and helping grow access to the arts across our community.
🎶 Join the Movement
Austin Opera’s Inspire 2030 is more than a campaign—it’s a call to action for anyone who believes in the transformative power of the arts. Whether you’re a seasoned opera aficionado, a curious newcomer, a lover of live performance, or simply someone who believes in beauty, story, and song—there’s a place for you in this vibrant community.
And every bit helps. Whether you're giving $5 or $5,000, buying a tee or underwriting a performance, you're helping breathe life into a vision that says art still matters. Opera still matters. Community still matters.
