Over time, I’ve been diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism—now a bit more advanced after going undiagnosed and untreated for too long—along with fibromyalgia and status migrainosus. This treatment is being presented as a possible cure for one part of that, and a chance at a different kind of life.

Living with chronic pain shapes everything in ways that are hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it. Navigating life has been complicated at worst, and clarifying at best.

You learn to adapt. You learn to keep going. But you also learn not to take small things for granted—feeling well enough to walk through a grocery store on your own, to move through a day without interruption, to have a moment where your body feels like it belongs to you again.

Those things matter in a different way when they’re not guaranteed.

I’ve always known that building something sustainable for myself—something that could support me long-term—would be a challenge. But I also know now that my life has prepared me for that. Patience, endurance, learning how to keep going even when things are uncertain—those aren’t abstract ideas to me. They’re daily practice.

This is one of those moments where I need support. I’m scared. After everything—surgeries, treatments, medications—to be this close to something that could change things, and still fall short. But I’m here, trying anyway.
