“It Is Finished…?” Not Quite. But Here’s Something to Hold.

“It Is Finished…?” Not Quite. But Here’s Something to Hold.

A regular rhythm from Simply Edyn & Co. | The Commons Dispatch

There’s something about Good Friday that always lingers. Whether you believe deeply, believe differently, or don’t believe at all—this day has weight.

Not the kind that demands reverence for reverence’s sake. But the kind that nudges you. Reminds you. There was pain here. There was loss. There was love stretched wide and torn open.

And not just on a cross.

Because for so many of us, this country—this life, this system, this body—is its own kind of crucible. And we’re carrying more than most people even bother to notice. We show up with tired hearts. Broken backs. Brains that won't quiet down. Bank accounts that keep laughing at us. Bodies that ache. And still—we try. We show up.

Not in holiness. In humanness.

That’s the kind of Good Friday I want to speak to. The kind that makes room for the doubter, the overthinker, the midnight scroller, the protestor, the exhausted mom, the one who hasn’t prayed in years but still believes in kindness. The one who doesn't go to church but cries during commercials. The one who used to believe and the one who’s never known how.

You don’t need a title or a theology to feel the weight of the world. And you don’t need perfection to want to be part of what makes it better.

Maybe resurrection isn’t a moment. Maybe it’s a practice. Maybe it’s just this tiny, brave, quiet thing we do every time we choose not to go numb.

You don’t have to believe the same thing to belong to each other.

You don’t have to have it figured out. You just have to bring what you’ve got—your questions, your laughter, your weariness, your weirdness, your heart.

That’s the kind of holy I believe in.
The kind that makes room at the table.
The kind that doesn’t need to be translated to be felt.

We’re not finished.
But we’re still here.
Still trying.
Still choosing to rise.
And that matters more than anything else today.

We all need a place that feels like home—where the connections actually mean something and leave us feeling a little lighter, a little wiser, maybe both. This space isn’t for everyone, and I get that. But for those who find their way here, it’s built with the hope to fill the quiet gaps we often don’t even realize are there until we do.

From my spirit to yours,
T.M.
