Trust Isn’t a Press Release
I saw the latest headline where Target’s newest CEO admitted they’ve lost trust with shoppers and staff, and honestly I can’t shake how familiar that feels—like hearing the same old corporate playbook with a fresh coat of PR paint. It’s one thing to recognize a problem, and another to actually be willing to break from the patterns that caused it in the first place.
Right now, astrologers point to Pluto’s move into Aquarius—a long generational transit connected with shifting power away from old hierarchies and toward collective innovation, community, and systems that reflect people instead of top-down profit structures—as a time where the cracks in outdated systems are exposed and new possibilities start to take shape .
If that’s even half right, this moment isn’t about returning to the “same old song and dance.” It’s about pivoting—reimagining how business can show up, how we use our dollars, and how conscious consumerism isn’t a niche trend but a new mode of living. I genuinely believe women—and especially women of color who have always had to build with care, creativity, and resourcefulness—will lead the way in shaping what comes next.
Supporting small, intentional businesses isn’t about nostalgia. It’s choosing different roots for what we want our world to look like—systems that sustain us, that honor dignity, and that actually earn trust because they were built with care from the beginning.
