In the mood for love?

There once was a love we kept “for later,”
For Sundays. For calls we’d make greater.
But time cleared its throat,
Said, “Baby, take note—
Later’s a hell of a negotiator.”

That’s the thing about love. It doesn’t wait politely. It doesn’t tap its watch or send calendar invites. Love shows up barefoot, knocking on the door at the worst possible hour, asking if you’re awake. Asking if you mean it. Asking if you’ll say it now.

February gets dressed up as romance season, but love has always been bigger than flowers and fixed dates. Love is the text you send just because. The voice memo you leave when the thought hits. The hand you reach for when words don’t come clean. Love is calling your mama before the day gets away from you. It’s checking on the friend who’s been quiet. It’s choosing to show up, even when you’re tired, even when the world feels loud and sharp.

Love doesn’t require a receipt. Some of the most meaningful ways we show care cost nothing at all: listening without fixing, remembering a small detail, cooking a meal, writing a note, making the call you’ve been putting off. When was the last time you told someone exactly why they matter to you? When did you last show up without an agenda?

For some, love is time. For others, it’s words. For others still, it’s showing up steady and unflashy when things are hard. And yes, for those whose love language leans toward gift-giving or receiving, there’s nothing wrong with choosing something tangible that says, I saw this and thought of you. If that’s you, I hope you explore my February collections slowly, with intention. Whatever direction you lean, let it be an extension of care, not a substitute for it. Love isn’t proven by what you buy. It’s proven by how present you are.

Do what feels true. That’s the whole invitation. Everything else is optional.

We keep telling ourselves there will be more time. More chances. Another moment when things slow down. There is less fear. Better timing. But life doesn’t promise any of that. What it does give us is right now. This breath. This beat. This opportunity to love out loud instead of holding it hostage.

So if you’re in the mood for love—real love, practical love, inconvenient love—don’t wait for permission. Say it. Do it. Spend where it matters. Invest where it heals. Reach out to the people who make you feel human, and remind them—clearly, gently—that they’re not alone.

Call them. Hold them. Love them while you can.

That’s the whole song.

Love,
